My class will be making posters which will combine communication methods with persuasive images to help spread awareness. We learned about the 6th main types of persuasion, which are, instruction, emotion, fact, irony, shock, and coding. I think I will try to do either an anti-litter poster or a hunger themed poster.

Once I began designing, I developed two distinct phases to guide my work. Both were intentionally open-ended, allowing for multiple interpretations. The two main phases I used were: “Don’t live your life in a bottle” and “Lost but trapped.” Below is my exploration of color experimentation.

In class we shared and reviewed each other’s work. When it got to me I got quite a lot of positive feedback from my group. They really liked my simplicity for my poster and thought that because of it had a very clean and professional look. My message was very open ended and loose so that it could be interpreted In many different ways. They really seemed to like that idea and encouraged it infinitely. The only real critique is that for the waves they get cut off quite suddenly. The idea given to me was to round off the edges of my waves to make it more smooth and clean cut. Due to timing I an unable to do this but I greatly appreciate the feedback and really wish I could add these details. Personally I wish I had a sightly complex design as I feel that mine is a tad bland. I think the colors came out great and really help spread my messages well as the red draws in your eye. Overall I really think I did well on this project and had fun creating it.

My final outcome is a clear and clean cut poster. I used the communication method of instruction for my red bottle variant and used emotion for the black bottle. In the first image there is a multi-layered wave formate due reprinting on a test copy. After it came out I decided that I really liked the look and kept it for my final. I found the look to be very unique and fun and loved the way all three came out. My message was very open ended and loose so that it could be interpreted In many different ways, I didn’t just want to say what the message was but to let the viewer see what it mean for them. Whether that is depression, addiction or something else any feeling or idea is correct and valid. My goal was to just let the viewer use my poster to find their own personal impact. I believe my work does that and I am satisfied with how I ended this project
